[PA] Officer Mayhew beat wife, chased her with sirens, caused crash, and abandoned work district

A Philadelphia police officer was arrested Wednesday, May 5, 2017, for assaulting his [wife] outside of a bar while on duty. Officer Antonio Mayhew also injured an innocent bystander while going after his wife in his police vehicle [the wife struck the car fleeing from him and he told the crash victim he would return, which he did not]... [Excerpts] ...Mayhew was on-duty and in his cruiser when he left his assigned area around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday and became involved in a domestic incident with his wife... Mayhew struck his wife in the head with his fist as she was inside her car. She drove away, police say, and Mayhew pursued her in his police cruiser with lights and sirens activated... [PA] Philly Officer Perez says she shot her repeatedly abusive husband in self defense

[Excerpts]  The female off-duty police officer [Caren Perez] who investigators said shot her husband in the couple's driveway will not be charged... The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office reports David Perez attacked his wife... Also, they say the shooting -- outside their home in Northampton Township -- was self-defense... David Perez, 27, is charged with stalking and simple assault -- plus simple assault from a 2015 incident at the couple’s previous home... Stalking could land him five years in prison and a fine of $10,000. Simple assault is punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of $5,000. [Full article here]

[Excerpts] A Philadelphia police officer [Caren Perez] was acting in self-defense when she shot and wounded her husband two weeks ago in the driveway of their Bucks County home... David Perez, 27, who is recovering from the wound to the abdomen, has been charged with stalking and simple assault on his wife... David Perez's attorney, said his client “categorically denies any prior abuse, either physical or mental"...  When police were called to the couple's home on the morning of April 18, they found the husband in the living room, shot... The wife later told investigators that her husband had assaulted her several times since 2014... On the morning of April 18, Caren Perez later told investigators, her husband demanded to see the contents of her phone, and after she refused... Fearing for her life, she said, she grabbed her handgun, and during a struggle, it fell to the floor. David Perez then took his gun, and while the two struggled over it, he pointed it at himself and tried to put his wife's finger on the trigger. "Go ahead, shoot me, take me out of my misery, pull the trigger," he is quoted as saying in the affidavit... David Perez then "drop kicked" his wife, charged at her, and made her fear he was going to kill her, she told investigators. That's when she pulled out her gun and fired once... [Full article here]

[NY] Corrections Officer Brown shot at her boyfriend before killing herself


On May 2nd 2017 New York State Corrections Officer Keisha Brown, 47, shot repeatedly at her ex-boyfriend Rasheem Lord outside their workplace, Queensboro Correctional Facility, before shooting and killing herself. Before shooting at Rasheem - who is also an officer - she had said, “You are going to talk to me” and “Neither one of us are going to work today." Rasheem ran, she shot up his vehicle, shot another car with passengers, then turned the gun on herself. Rasheem and Keisha had a previous five year relationship but had been apart for a few years.
