[IA] Muscatine Police Department wants only honest officers.

A Muscatine Iowa police officer who was appealing his termination won’t get his job back. He had been fired on Dec. 19, 2011 for “untruthfulness and unbecoming conduct of a peace officer” after “inconsistencies, deception and problems with the phone records” during an investigation into an incident during his "bitter divorce." Investigators are convinced and testified at the appeal hearing that the officer was not truthful during interviews about who threw the brick through a window of his estranged wife's friend. The Muscatine Civil Service Commission chairperson said that officers are held to a higher standard. “Untruthfulness would make the public question officers.”
