[WV] Pierson sentenced. (‘Mom, you're gonna wake up and hear he killed me.' )

Ex jail officer Stanley Pierson was sentenced to two life sentences for killing his pregnant wife Lisa Lynn Pierson and Lisa's daughter, Casey Jo Barker. Somehow in the thinking of the court's justice that only adds up to a certain 30 years - because of some "mercy" thing - but mercy? He attacked the heads of Lisa and Casey with a knife and PICK AXE.

Murder doesn't come more brutal than this does it?

A former corrections officer will spend at least 30 years in prison for killing his wife and stepdaughter. Stanley Eugene Pierson received two consecutive life sentences Friday from Kanawha County Circuit Judge Tod Kaufman. Both sentences include mercy, which makes the 37-year-old Pierson eligible for parole after serving 30 years. Pierson pleaded guilty in December to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his 39-year-old wife Lisa Lynn Pierson, and her daughter, 20-year-old Casey Barker. Prosecutors say he struck the victims with a mattox and stabbed them as they slept in the Piersons' home in Campbells Creek on Oct. 22, 2006. Pierson formerly was a corrections officer at the [WV Division of Corrections] Charleston Work Release Office.

NEWS EXCERPTS FROM OCT 24 & NOVEMBER 4TH 2006:
...Lisa Pierson was still alive when a relative found her shortly after noon, but she died on the way to the hospital, officials said. Her daughter was dead at the scene. A large hand tool believed to be the weapon was recovered from the house, authorities said. Fearing Pierson jumped off the bridge, authorities searched the Kanawha River Sunday, finding him in his uniform on the river bank downstream about 11 p.m... Lucy Barker said her daughter Lisa Pierson was at least five months pregnant... State Police are gaurding the suspect's room at Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Hospital. He is being treated for a shoulder injury and hypothermia after it is believed he jumped off the Yeager Bridge... Lisa Lynn Pierson made a fear-filled prediction to a friend just days before her death. "You'll be coming to my funeral," the 39-year-old Campbells Creek woman told Patricia Crawford last week... Crawford told a Gazette reporter Monday that she and Lisa Pierson were close after a year and a half of friendship. She said Stanley Pierson was mean to his wife and "meaner" to Barker, Lisa Pierson's daughter from a previous relationship... The Piersons filed for bankruptcy less than two weeks ago and had been discussing a separation, Barker said. Lisa often spoke to her mother of her husband's threats. "She told me, ‘Mom, you're gonna wake up and hear he killed me.' "I said, ‘Don't talk that way. Family wouldn't do that.' But he did. I thought she was just scared. I wish to God I would have done something. I didn't think he'd do it; he was so easygoing"... The three shared the Campbells Creek home for several years and Pierson was a veteran DOC officer who recently was named DOC employee of the quarter...
